So. This is the third update post journal blog thing I’ve posted today.
And I only really feel like addressing a few more matters. The short version of the other posts would be as follows…
“My RL job sucks, it pays bad has mandatory holdover and whatnot, but it pays the bills and I need to keep it until I make money enough to go without it, etc”
and
“Expect delays for the above reasons and I’ll be making a bunch of comics and art and such, but it will be scattered between videos and whatnot.”
So yeah, my job sucks. I’m tired, lonely, depressed from time to time, and half of that can be attributed to my job. I want to quit, but there are no better alternatives to me at this time so I make do.
My computer has suffered a few hiccups recently and those may or may not be local power/house wireing. Either way, I need to upgrade components. Therefore I will try to do so over the next month or two as cash flow permits.
I’m looking at houses now and -given a chance- I’ll buy one and set up a studio for art and video work / streaming.
But there are more pressing matters at the moment such as the BWL RoadTrip for QuakeCon needing to be finished and Server maintenance.
Yes indeed. If you have tried to connect to any of our servers recently beyond the Synergy Server or vent servers, then you have had a bad time. GMOD went down first. Then L4D2 and Minecraft.
Why?
I don’t know.
It appears to be problem with the host and their update tools. Simply put, Steam Pipe happened and the host didn’t keep up.
GMod is back up now, but with no addons and at a different IP address.
Minecraft is back, but without our control mods, whitelist, or op list… or the Universe. Looks like we may just start over on that one. New Universe take 2 I guess.
Left 4 Dead 2 is still down, and the host isn’t helping much. They seem to be having trouble manually updating as well.
Yup. Our game servers are screwed and will stay that way -or at least something similar- until I have time to re-upload files / install / update mods.
Sorry for this guys, but this was all out of my hands.
Still, I feel that things might have gone better or have been resolved faster had I only been focused on BWL instead of spending so much time at my regular job. [August was aweful with well over half the month facing two or more staff holding over for a second shift for various reasons]
One other note I hate to mention is that I am planning to shut down the SF Studios hosted site. Nothing has happened there in ages and it’s swamped with bots and outdated software. I haven’t even heard from Legend in months if not more then a year.
On a positive beat, I do plan to replace that with a new “hosted site” version of Friendly Garg’s Stories instead of our current archive. So watch for that along with my many other projects.
And once again, I have much planned but need help. Financial is always good, but I could use custom content, voice work, you name it. We even still accept submissions. Help out in any way you can. Even making a new game comic is something as it adds activity to the site.
Anyway, that’s all I feel like typing now. I’m tired and need to go to bed.
