It’s time for the final RoadTrip of the 9th season. For the first time since the original RoadTrip, QuakeCon has returned to the Gaylord Texan.
The trip was fun. There was a bit of showmanship missing, and a smaller BYOC, etc. Next year promises to be the biggest QuakeCon ever, so I am excited.

This trip was tainted mostly by a room mate that didn’t show up and rarely answered my texts and calls. First we wondered if he was okay.
Then we learned he was fine, but just a butt.
To answer the questions I already have been given on this subject by my other room-mates and people to which I have told this story…
1. Yes, WinD did offer to send me his share of the room via PayPal and Western Union. He said he would send it and a little more AND offered me a room next year for all the trouble.
2. No, as of this posting, he has not actually sent me a single cent. He has not answered my messages either.
3. No, I did not ruin my credit or anything like that. I simply broke the budget and have not yet caught back up. For that reason, I do not know what the next RoadTrip will be.
4. Yes, I read Neg1’s post on the QCon forums. I know there is some indication that WinD is prone to shenanigans. If only I had known that before this.
5. No, I am not taking this super-personal. However, I have an issue with people lying to me and as of this date, everything he said to me has proven to be a lie.
6. No, I will not accept a room from him next year. I simply cannot trust him to show up and cannot afford to arrive and be without a room.
7. Yes, I have tried to contact him multiple times. This included joining his Discord server which he indicated he would be more likely to see. I receive one response for something like 20 attempts that I make. And he has all but completely stopped answering now.
8. No, I do not expect him to make good on his promises.
9. No, I do not believe I am in any way wrong for using his name in the video or this description. People need to know the risks they take in trying to share a room with this person or having any dealings with him. And I deliberately held off on using his name for sure until the very last minute – even in editing – to allow him time to come through for me.
9a. That said, do NOT target, troll, harass, or otherwise trouble this person. You know who you are and what you were thinking. Don’t. Talking about him here and in the video is about preventing others from having this experience. It is not a call to arms. I don’t need that kind of “help”.
10. No, I did not specifically plan to use my credit card for the room. I budget for these things, and the credit card is for surprises like this. Even so, I am still catching up to this day and do not have the budget for the first 2018 trip yet.
11. No, I do not plan to do anything to get back on him or anything like that. He offered to pay the money, but didn’t actually get to use the room. So I don’t see him as “required” to do anything. He simply lied when he offered to pay it and didn’t have the decency to let us know he wouldn’t be there until half-way through the event. Regardless of popular belief, being an butt is not against the law.
